SEDIMENTO at PROTOTYPE in Paris: Innovation, Fine Craftsmanship and Bespoke Luxury

In early February in Paris, the first edition of PROTOTYPE, organized by the French Craft Guild, immediately established itself as a key event in contemporary design. More than a professional fair, this inaugural edition stood as a manifesto for design that is truly durable, economically viable, and grounded in the realities of fabrication.

For Milodina, exhibiting at PROTOTYPE Paris was a defining moment. It was an opportunity to present SEDIMENTO, an emblematic prototype embodying our innovative vision of Murano glass, fine craftsmanship, and bespoke luxury.

More than a displayed piece, SEDIMENTO is a manifesto object — a tangible demonstration that technical innovation and traditional savoir-faire can engage in dialogue with both rigor and elegance.

PROTOTYPE: A Fair Dedicated to Sustainable Design and Exceptional Craft

PROTOTYPE is not conceived as a conventional design fair. Here, a prototype is not an abstract intention, but a concrete proof. Each project must be:

  • Sustainable

  • Economically viable

  • Transferable

  • Rooted in artisanal mastery

At a time when digital innovation and automated systems are reshaping the creative industries, PROTOTYPE highlights an essential truth: the most meaningful innovation emerges from the dialogue between technology and craftsmanship.

The choice of venue reinforced this vision. Exhibiting at the Hôtel de l’Industrie, where figures such as Gustave Eiffel and the Lumière brothers once unveiled their innovations, carried strong symbolic significance.

The human-scale format, one piece, one story per stand, created an intimate and prestigious atmosphere, fostering meaningful exchanges between exceptional maisons, architecture firms, interior designers, and leading luxury players.

SEDIMENTO: A Bespoke Table Top of Exceptional Proportions

SEDIMENTO was conceived as part of a bespoke 400 x 120 cm table-top project. Such XL dimensions impose significant technical constraints, particularly in terms of safety and structural performance.

To meet these requirements, Milodina combined:

  • The rigor of industrial safety glass, ensuring strength and reliability

  • A traditional Murano technique: hand-applied “painting”

This alliance reconciles the technical demands of bespoke luxury with the expressive richness of fine craftsmanship.

Hand Painting: The Expressive Power of Murano Glass

The decor of SEDIMENTO is created using a technique rooted in Murano glass tradition : a hand-applied “painting” executed according to singular artisanal savoir-faire.

Each gesture deposits material, builds depth, and reveals light.

The distinctive graphism, the project’s signature, had to be entirely reimagined to adapt to the monumental 400 x 120 cm proportions.

The color palette was also adjusted according to the client’s vision. This adaptive process perfectly illustrates the essence of bespoke work: nothing is standardized; everything is conceived in dialogue with space, function, and interior architecture.

Innovation and Craftsmanship: The DNA of Milodina

SEDIMENTO profoundly embodies Milodina’s DNA:

  • Creating dialogue between innovation and craftsmanship

  • Elevating exceptional savoir-faire

  • Transforming technical constraints into beauty

  • Designing resolutely bespoke Murano glass pieces

We believe in a sincere form of luxury, where beauty arises from material, gesture, and technical mastery.

“The true without beauty is incomplete; beauty without truth is fragile.”

Murano glass, enriched by fine craftsmanship and supported by the performance of safety glass, becomes both a medium of expression and a field for innovation.
